The 'Blue Hour' Kananaskis
Shooting Kananaskis as part of a short series, I found myself at Upper Kananaskis Lake at last light. Sunset was over and I could hardly see to pack away my gear. The sunset had been a bit of a let down with no real 'keepers' from the images made, but with a decent moon I thought I would make a couple of shots of the road home. To get the composition I wanted I stood in the back of my truck with the camera on a tripod making the road both my main foreground and leading line. Note the road doesn't exit the frame to the right, it just leads you there and disappears allowing the eye to follow the light of the moon toward the mountains and that purple haze behind them.
This shot made a nice addition to the day and made up for the disappointing sunset earlier (though I had also captured some very nice images prior to sunset).
