The very first time I saw London I was a schoolboy on a trip and fell in love with the city immediately. As an adult I was fortunate enough to work in London for a number of years and gain a far better understanding of the city as a whole, my love of this incredible place expanded with my knowledge.
Now as a resident of another country 4000 miles away, my heart yearns for this great ancient city and I take every opportunity available to visit. For the past two weeks I was fortunate enough to do just that and had a fantastic time rekindling my love for all things London.
I didn't shoot many personal images at all this time, less than 20 I suspect, but I enjoyed making a few for my own memory banks and thought I would share three on the blog to represent the city from my perspective.
The first represents modern tourism in the form of the London Eye which has almost 4 million visitors a year. The second shot represents the financial heart of the city, London is the worlds highest net exporter of financial services and is widely referred to as the worlds financial capital. The third image represents the ancient beauty of London, standing in the shadow of 'The Shard', Southwark Cathedral has been a place of worship for over 1000 years and it's stunning interior leaves you in awe irrespective of religious beliefs.
There's so much more to London, than these 3 sides but it's a nice introduction to this wonderful, multifaceted city.
